Chilean Energy Transition
Fossil Infrastructure
📍Arica, Chile

Chile is a developing country with a high-income economy and is among the most economically and socially stable nations in South America. Energy in Chile is dominated by fossil fuels, with coal, oil and gas accounting for nearly 3/4 of the total primary energy.
The artwork shows a oil refinery in the northern city of Arica. With its long coastal line and the highest solar radiation area in the world - the Atacama Desert - Chile has a tremendous potential to expand its use of renewable energy sources like wind and solar power.
